Located on the corner of Laygate and Western Approach Lidls is one of the new kids on the block when it comes to supermarkets in the town (they also have a 2nd store in Boldon lane). They tend to sell many brands that you have never heard of but this often works out to your advantage with cheaper prices and also check out their weekly specials deal which is pinned on the notice board outside the shop or in their newsletter where you will find some good offers which they hold on certain days, but make sure your early as sometimes on the bigger items like computers etc they will only have a small amount per shop. On the plus side they have a large car park to the rear that is free of charge and is handy if you also want to get a bit shopping in from Frederick street at the same time.
