Information on Star Trek
Star Trek was one of the first TV shows the brought science fiction to a wider
TV audience, it was created by Gene Roddenberry and was first shown on TV in
1966 and finished in 1969. Each show used to to start of with a voice over by Captain James T. Kirk
who was played by actor William Shatner claiming that the Enterprise ship was
on a 5 year mission to explore strange new worlds to seek out new life and new civilizations to boldly go where no man has gone before,
I wonder how many people around the world no know those words off by heart !.
Back in the 1960s for some reason the shows ratings were poor and it was pulled
off the air after only a 3 year run but came back into the publics eye with the
release in 1979 of Star Trek The Motion Picture which brought the attention of
this famous show to a whole new army of Science Fiction fans and ended up with
10 films been made with a possibility of a 11th Star Trek film now been in
production. Once it had been seen that the film was a great success a new Star
Trek show called "The Next Generation" was show on TV in the late
1980s and this went on to spawn another 3 TV shows "Deep Space Nine"
"Voyager" and so far the last of the shows "Enterprise". |
